Work coming home

I will be sending work home with all grades. A lot of the fourth and fifth grade works will be coming home all at once.  This is due to the fact that I have kept the majority of their pieces for display at the fine arts night.  Please be on the lookout for your child's artwork.

So many snow days!

Welcome back from vacation.  After sooo many snow days, we have been playing catch up in most every class.  This week we have finally begun to use clay in the third, fourth and fifth grades. I have a few pictures to share from the fourth grade classes.

Welcome Back

We are off to a great start.  This year the theme for our art classroom is "Light Play."  This theme will drive all of our artwork throughout the year.  Make sure to check in and see what is going on in the art classroom.
These first couple of weeks we are working on self portraits in all of the grades.  Ask your children what makes this self portrait different form a typical one.

What is a medium in art terms?

WHAT IS A MEDIUM IN ART TERMS??

(noun) - In art, "medium" refers to the substance the artist uses to create his or her artwork.

For example, the medium Michelangelo used to create David was marble, Calder's stabiles employ painted steel plates and Duchamp's infamous Fountain had porcelain as its medium.

Expectations posters

Here is one of the posters in my room.  Please make sure that this is the kind of artist you are when you come to my classroom.

Welcome back

Welcome back to Fox Hill art class.  We are going to have an exciting year together.  For those who are new to my art class, it has been nice getting to know you all during our first few classes.  We have been talking about many things in the first few classes.  One major topic has been the classroom expectations.  I showed students posters with my expectations on them.  The posters are now up in my room and in the hallway outside my room.
